Job Description

The Radio Access Network Expert provides advanced technical expertise and support for Radio Access Network (RAN) systems, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and scalability of mobile network infrastructure. This role involves troubleshooting complex issues, collaborating with engineering teams, and delivering solutions that maintain high-quality service for end-users.

Technical Support & Troubleshooting

  • Provide Level 2 support for RAN-related incidents and escalations.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and configuration issues in RAN systems (e.g., LTE, 5G NR).
  • Analyze logs, KPIs, and alarms to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Network Optimization

  • Perform advanced performance analysis and recommend optimization strategies.
  • Support capacity planning and ensure compliance with SLAs and QoS standards.

Collaboration & Coordination

  • Work closely with vendors, field engineers, and NOC teams to resolve critical issues.
  • Liaise with vendor and product teams for software upgrades, patches, and feature enhancements.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain detailed records of incidents, resolutions, and configuration changes.
  • Prepare technical reports and provide feedback for continuous improvement.

New Technology Integration & Validation

  • Support the launch and validation of new wireless technologies, such as 5G Standalone (SA)/Non-Standalone (NSA), Open RAN, and IoT solutions, in lab and field environments.

Collaboration & Vendor Management

  • Work closely with RF engineering, core network teams, product management, and external vendors to report bugs, implement fixes, and manage product-related issues.

Training & Mentorship

  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical training on RAN technologies and troubleshooting methodologies.

 

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Experience: 10+ years in RAN technical support or mobile network operations.

Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of LTE, 5G NR, and related protocols (S1, X2, NG). Familiarity with vendor-specific RAN equipment (e.g., Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung).

Proficiency in network monitoring tools and OSS systems.

In-depth understanding of RAN systems, protocols, and cellular technologies (GSM, WCDMA, LTE, 5G SA/NSA, VoLTE/VoNR).

Proficiency with network analysis and optimization tools (e.g., OSS, network management systems, KPI monitoring tools)

Knowledge of relevant networking protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP) is beneficial.

Familiarity with Cloud RAN and IoT concepts.

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills.

Certifications (Preferred): 3GPP standards knowledge, Relevant Vendor certifications (e.g., Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung)

Advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

Ability to work under pressure and manage critical incidents.

Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
