Job Description

Reporting to Senior Director, Accounting, the Sr. Financial Reporting and Project Specialist is responsible for leading month-end closing process to ensure accurately and timely reporting financial results. The Senior Specialist is also responsible for preparing financial statements in Hyperion, completing CRTC telecom reports to provide insights to help businesses gather meaningful information. With strong technical skill, the Senior Specialist is the subject matter expert of financial systems (Oracle, etc.) to lead project of system upgrade/conversion.

  • Lead closing process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Prepare Hyperion monthly reporting package (including tax working paper), review, analyze, investigate and explain variances
  • Manage intercompany transactions with Parent company and any other related parties
  • Work with internal and external auditors to coordinate quarterly review and annual audit
  • Responsible for monthly/quarterly/annually CFA, CRTC and any other government bodies reporting requirement
  • Work with IT and take lead on projects that involve changes in financial systems, processes and controls

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA license required
  • In depth understanding of accounting principles and practices, as well as SOX compliance
  • Extensive experience in month-end closing and financial reporting
  • Experience of government regulatory reporting
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial reporting tools
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
